Reviewers widely praise this book for its brilliant and simple concept, effectively illustrating how different individuals perceive the same subject. The illustrations are consistently highlighted as stunning, beautiful, and varied, employing diverse artistic styles to visually represent each unique viewpoint. Many appreciate the subtle yet profound way the book introduces complex ideas such as perspective, empathy, and the subjectivity of reality. The text is noted for its engaging repetition, making it accessible for young children, while its layered meaning and measured tone also captivate older readers. Overall, the book is considered a delightful and visually rich experience that sparks important discussions.

While the book receives overwhelming positive feedback, some minor criticisms are noted. A few reviewers desired additional scientific information or "back matter" to explain the biological reasons behind each animal's unique vision, feeling it was a missed opportunity given the book's premise. There's also an observation that the artistic representations, while creative, are not always strictly scientifically accurate. Additionally, a small number of reviewers, particularly those sensitive to imagery, found certain illustrations to be potentially disturbing or scary for very young or impressionable children, which could deter some readers.

Despite these minor points, the consensus is that this is a highly recommended and exceptionally clever book. It is lauded as a valuable tool for parents and educators seeking to introduce fundamental concepts of empathy, diverse perspectives, and point of view to children. Its appeal stretches across a broad age range, from toddlers who enjoy the engaging illustrations and repetitive text, to elementary school children who can grasp its deeper message, and even adults who appreciate its thoughtful exploration of how we see the world. Ultimately, it is considered a powerful and enjoyable book for anyone interested in fostering understanding and tolerance.
