Adulthood is a Myth A "Sarah's Scribbles" Collection

Reviewers overwhelmingly praise Adulthood Is a Myth for its exceptional relatability and humor. Many readers felt an immediate and profound connection to the comics, describing them as capturing "their entire life" or feeling as if the author was "stalking" them due to the accuracy of the observations. The book is celebrated for its ability to make readers feel understood and validated in their everyday anxieties, social awkwardness, and inner thoughts, prompting frequent "OMG I AM NOT ALONE!" moments. Readers often found themselves laughing out loud, appreciating the charming and simplistic art style that effectively conveys a wide range of emotions and situations.

While largely positive, some reviewers noted that the book might be better categorized as a collection of unrelated cartoons rather than a traditional graphic novel with a continuous narrative. A few readers felt the content, while amusing, lacked significant emotional depth or a lasting impact, suggesting that individual instances might not be remembered long after reading. Additionally, some specific humor elements, such as expressions of disliking people, were perceived by a minority as dated or overly negative. Some observations were also noted to be more relevant to a younger, particularly twenty-something, demographic, potentially making them less resonant for older readers.

Overall, Adulthood Is a Myth is widely regarded as an entertaining and comforting read that offers a refreshing sense of camaraderie in the face of modern life's quirks. Its strength lies in its ability to provide lighthearted humor and validation for common struggles. This book is highly recommended for introverts, book lovers, and anyone who questions the conventional expectations of adulthood. Readers who enjoy quick, funny, and deeply relatable webcomics, especially those who appreciate similar humor, will likely find immense joy and a shared "spirit animal" in Sarah Andersen's work.
