Alex & Me

Embark on a remarkable journey into the hidden depths of animal intelligence with scientist Irene Pepperberg and her extraordinary African Grey parrot, Alex. For three decades, their groundbreaking work challenged the long-held belief that only primates could possess complex cognitive abilities and language. Witness as Alex, with a brain the size of a shelled walnut, learns to identify objects by color, shape, and material, comprehend numerical concepts, and utilize a vocabulary of over 150 words to communicate his thoughts and even express affection.

This is the intimate story of a profound bond that reshaped our understanding of what animals are capable of. It reveals the triumphs, struggles, and deep emotional connection between a woman and a bird who, against scientific skepticism, proved that intelligence, personality, and love can flourish in unexpected places. Discover how Alex's existence revolutionized the field of animal cognition and forever changed the way we perceive the minds and hearts of creatures around us.
