Better Than the Movies

For Liz Buxbaum, a devout believer in romantic comedies, life should imitate art. She has spent years curating the perfect playlists and dreaming of a cinematic love story, a passion she shared with her late mother. When her childhood crush, Michael, moves back to town just in time for senior prom, Liz is certain her protagonist moment has arrived. The only problem is Michael is friends with Wes Bennett, the infuriatingly charming boy next door who has been Liz's sworn enemy since childhood. To secure her fairytale ending, Liz must strike a deal with the last person she ever wanted to rely on.

As Liz and Wes begin a secret scheme to make her rom-com dreams a reality, their constant bickering unexpectedly gives way to a connection she never saw coming. The more time she spends with Wes, the more she is forced to question everything she thought she wanted. This witty and heartfelt story explores the messy, unpredictable nature of love, challenging the notion that the perfect romance follows a script and questioning whether the most epic love stories are the ones that happen when you least expect them.
