Stanley Lambchop goes to bed an ordinary boy and wakes up half an inch thick. A bulletin board has slipped off his bedroom wall in the night and pressed him flat as paper, without hurting him at all. At first it feels like a trick. He slides under closed doors, folds into a brown envelope to visit friends in California, and soars over the park on a string like a kite. His younger brother Arthur thinks it is hilarious. Then paintings start disappearing from the Famous Museum of Art, and the grown-ups are helpless. Being flat lets Stanley go where no one else can slip, if he is brave enough to go there.

Loved nostalgic classic for kids for its silly premise, though adults often find it dated.
