Cool Flowers

Readers consistently praise this book as an incredibly helpful and comprehensive guide for cultivating hardy annual flowers, particularly emphasizing cool weather growing techniques. Many found it to be a unique and invaluable resource for extending their growing season, allowing for earlier and longer blooms. The advice is frequently described as logical, simple, practical, and easily digestible, making complex gardening concepts accessible to both novice and experienced gardeners. Reviewers appreciate the detailed instructions on topics such as seed starting, bed preparation, and specific flower varieties. The engaging writing style, combined with beautiful photographs and helpful diagrams, further enhances the learning experience, inspiring many to embark on or improve their flower farming or backyard gardening endeavors.

While overwhelmingly positive, a few minor points were raised by readers. One reviewer noted that the small format of the book resulted in 'dinky' photos, wishing for a larger size. Another mentioned some overlap in content with the author's other works, suggesting that those who already own 'Vegetables Love Flowers' might find some familiar information. Additionally, some readers expressed personal challenges or uncertainties, such as finding specific techniques difficult due to their own soil conditions, or questioning their ability to stay organized enough for fall planting schedules required by the methods, though these reflect individual circumstances rather than flaws in the book itself.

Overall, the book is considered an essential and highly recommended resource for anyone interested in growing cut flowers, whether for personal enjoyment or commercial purposes. It stands out for its practical approach to maximizing the potential of hardy annuals through cool weather techniques. This book is particularly well-suited for gardeners looking to expand their knowledge, extend their blooming season, and gain confidence in cultivating flowers that thrive outside traditional summer growing windows. It serves as an excellent reference that many readers plan to revisit repeatedly, making it a valuable addition to any gardener's shelf.
