Crescendo

Readers found this book to be an engaging and often addictive read, with many finishing it in a single day. Praised for its fast pace and intense story, the book is noted for its mix of mystery, thriller, adventure, and romance, featuring a compelling male lead. Many reviewers felt it was an improvement over the previous installment in the series, offering surprising plot twists and a satisfying, shocking ending that left them eager for the next book. The dialogue is frequently highlighted as witty and entertaining, contributing to the book's appeal as a "guilty pleasure" that allows readers to easily immerse themselves in the story. Some found the supernatural elements, particularly involving angels and Nephilim, to be interesting and unique.

Conversely, many readers expressed significant frustration, primarily with the main character, Nora, whom they found to be whiny, irrational, and consistently making poor decisions. Her communication skills, or lack thereof, were a frequent point of criticism, often leading to prolonged and unnecessary relationship drama with Patch. Some reviewers felt Patch himself was less appealing in this installment, exhibiting manipulative or emotionally distant behavior, and the central romantic relationship was frequently described as toxic, lacking honest communication and featuring elements of lies and betrayal. Additionally, the book was criticized for its repetitive plot, perceived plot holes, and illogical world-building, particularly regarding the rules governing the supernatural elements. Several reviewers found the writing style to be amateurish, with unconvincing descriptions and an overreliance on clichés. Concerns were also raised about the inclusion of body shaming and the potential for the book to promote unhealthy relationship standards.

Ultimately, opinions on this book are sharply divided, with many readers experiencing a love-hate relationship or viewing it as a "guilty pleasure." While some found it to be an exciting and unputdownable read that surpassed its predecessor, others found it deeply frustrating and flawed, particularly due to character actions and plot inconsistencies. This book appears to resonate most with readers who enjoy fast-paced young adult paranormal romance with dramatic twists and a strong cliffhanger, especially those who appreciate the established world and characters from the first book, or are seeking an easy, entertaining read without overthinking the details. However, it may not be suitable for those looking for strong character development, logical plot progression, or healthy relationship dynamics.
