Dubbelspel

Many reviewers praised the book as a fast-paced, page-turning thriller filled with numerous twists and turns that keep readers engaged. The intricate plot and surprising developments, particularly towards the end, were frequently highlighted as strengths, with some readers expressing shock at the unforeseen conclusions. Reviewers appreciated the unique narrative structure and the protagonist's direct involvement in the central mystery, offering a fresh perspective on the genre. The short chapters were often cited as contributing to the book's addictive quality, encouraging continuous reading and making it an unputdownable experience for many.

Conversely, a significant number of readers expressed strong disappointment, citing numerous flaws. Common criticisms included a weak and unbelievable storyline, with many finding the plot convoluted or "thrown together" and relying on convenient, undeveloped twists. The characters, particularly the protagonist, were frequently described as unlikeable, shallow, and making irrational or incredible choices, undermining their credibility as professionals. The prose and dialogue were often called lazy, uninspired, and awkward, with some reviewers finding the short chapter format irritating rather than engaging. Several felt the book lacked depth, consistency, and a coherent narrative, leading to a frustrating and ultimately unsatisfying reading experience.

Overall, reader opinions on this book are sharply divided, ranging from enthusiastic praise to strong condemnation. While some found it to be a highly entertaining and suspenseful thriller, others considered it one of the author's weaker works, struggling with its narrative consistency and character credibility. It appears that fans of James Patterson's signature fast-paced style, particularly those who enjoy intricate plots with constant surprises and are less concerned with deep character development or literary prose, are more likely to appreciate this novel. However, readers seeking more substance, believable characters, or a tightly constructed plot without perceived conveniences might find it frustrating.
