Dwór cierni i róż

The biting winds of winter gnawed at the bones of the human lands, and nineteen-year-old Feyre Archeron, the sole provider for her impoverished family, stalked the unforgiving woods with a hunter's keen eye and a heart hardened by necessity. One frigid afternoon, a magnificent, otherworldly wolf crossed her path, its eyes too intelligent for a mere beast. Suspecting a faerie in disguise, Feyre, driven by the gnawing hunger in her stomach and an ancient, ingrained hatred for the Fae, slew it with an ash arrow. This single, desperate act shattered the fragile peace between realms.

Days later, a monstrous, golden-skinned beast, cloaked in an intricate mask, burst into their dilapidated cottage. He was Tamlin, the High Lord of the Spring Court, and the wolf Feyre had killed was one of his own. Under the terms of the ancient Treaty, she was offered a choice: die, or cross the wall into the faerie lands of Prythian to live out her days with him. Feyre chose life, stepping into a world of bewildering beauty and treacherous magic she had only known through fearful legends.

In the opulent, yet strangely desolate, Spring Court, Feyre found herself a prisoner of luxury. Tamlin, beneath his mask and formidable demeanor, proved to be a being of unexpected kindness, encouraging her suppressed artistic talent and revealing that much of what she believed about the Fae were myths. She learned of a creeping blight, a curse that had settled upon his court, forcing all its inhabitants to wear permanent masks and draining their powers. Alongside Tamlin's loyal, sharp-witted emissary, Lucien, Feyre began to uncover the dark secrets clinging to Prythian, and slowly, grudgingly, her icy hostility towards her captor began to thaw, replaced by a burgeoning, dangerous affection.

The romance between Feyre and Tamlin blossomed amidst the shadowed beauty of the Spring Court, a passion that burned through the lies she had been taught about the Fae. But the blight intensified, and the true horror of their predicament became clear. An ancient, malevolent queen, Amarantha, held Prythian in her cruel grip, ruling from Under the Mountain. It was she who had cast the curse upon the Spring Court, and only true love, a human's declaration of love for a faerie, could break it. When Tamlin, fearing for her safety, sent her back to the human lands, Feyre found her family inexplicably wealthy and safe, but her heart remained in Prythian. Driven by a fierce love she could no longer deny and a desperate need to save Tamlin and his people, she defied the wall, seeking a way Under the Mountain.

Her journey led her into Amarantha's twisted court, a place of constant torment and despair. To free Tamlin and all of Prythian, Feyre struck a perilous bargain with Amarantha: she would undertake three impossible tasks, or solve a riddle, winning their freedom if she succeeded. Under the watchful, unsettling gaze of Amarantha and the enigmatic, powerful High Lord of the Night Court, Rhysand, Feyre endured unimaginable trials. During these harrowing ordeals, Rhysand, with his dark allure and sardonic wit, offered her a deal: he would heal her broken arm if she agreed to spend one week out of every month with him in the Night Court once her ordeal was over. Having no other choice, Feyre accepted, binding herself to him.

The final task forced Feyre to commit an unspeakable act, one that would forever stain her soul. She solved Amarantha's riddle, but the cruel queen, enraged, betrayed their agreement and brutally murdered Tamlin, then Feyre herself. Yet, as her life faded, Tamlin, now free of the curse, retaliated, killing Amarantha. The High Lords of Prythian, witnessing Feyre's ultimate sacrifice, combined their ancient magic, breathing life back into her.

She awoke, no longer entirely human, but transformed into one of the High Fae. The Spring Court was free, but the cost had been immense, leaving Feyre scarred by the horrors she had witnessed and the choices she had made. She returned to Tamlin, to the Spring Court, but the world, and she herself, had changed irrevocably. The unspoken bargain with Rhysand loomed, a shadow promising a different kind of captivity, a new chapter in a life forever bound to the dangerous magic of Prythian.
