On a bright April morning in Copenhagen, fifteen-year-old Oscar Dreyer-Hoff walks out and does not come home. The police call him a runaway, another overlooked middle child acting out, but his frantic family knows something is terribly wrong. All he left behind is a chilling line copied from Oscar Wilde about the knife that killed Basil Hallward and would kill the past. With every hour the trail grows colder, and it is all detectives Jeppe Kørner and Anette Werner have to go on. Following his quiet life into underground tunnels, out to deserted islands and into guarded family secrets, they must find where fear drove him before the harbor city closes over him for good.
