Frag nach Jane

A mysterious letter, long hidden, reveals a life-altering confession, setting in motion a search that spans decades. The journey unearths the story of a clandestine network known only by the whispered name "Jane."

This network operated in 1970s Toronto, providing illegal abortions during a time when women faced limited choices. The narrative follows three women whose lives become intertwined: Dr. Evelyn Taylor, who, as a teenager in the 1960s, was forced to give up her baby and later became an abortion provider in the Jane Network; Nancy Mitchell, a student in 1980 grappling with an unexpected pregnancy and a shocking family secret, who seeks out "Jane" and finds her place within the network; and Angela Creighton, a bookseller in 2017 who discovers the hidden letter and embarks on a quest to deliver its truth, connecting her to the women of the past. Inspired by real events, this novel explores the profound consequences of a lack of choice, the enduring strength of maternal love, and the power of women supporting each other through historical activism.
