In the frigid quiet of Tumba, Sweden, a family is brutally murdered, leaving only a teenage son, Josef, alive but critically wounded and in shock. Detective Inspector Joona Linna of the National Crime Unit is desperate for answers, believing a missing older sister may also be in grave danger. With Josef unable to speak, Linna turns to the controversial psychiatrist Erik Maria Bark, a hypnotist who has sworn never to practice his craft again after a devastating past incident.
