Instant karma

Prudence Barnett, a chronic overachiever with a keen eye for justice, often judges the less-than-stellar residents of her coastal town. After a particularly frustrating night, she wakes with the unexpected ability to dole out instant karma, a power she readily uses on those she deems deserving. There is one person, however, on whom her newfound abilities consistently backfire: Quint Erickson, her perpetually late and seemingly laid-back lab partner.

Forced to collaborate to salvage their grades and aid Quint's family's struggling sea animal rescue center, Prudence finds herself working alongside the very person her powers refuse to touch. Through grueling work and unexpected glimpses into Quint's dedication, her rigid perceptions begin to soften, revealing the thin line between virtue and vanity, and the complexities of justice and compassion.
