Intel<Superscript>®<Superscript> Galileo and Intel<Superscript>®<Superscript> Galileo Gen 2

This book is widely regarded as an excellent resource, particularly for individuals transitioning from an Arduino background who wish to delve into more advanced embedded systems, specifically those utilizing Intel's Quark SOC like the Galileo board. Reviewers commend its thoroughness, guiding readers from understanding specifications to implementing sophisticated machine vision applications using OpenCV. The author receives praise for effectively illustrating the details of the Galileo platform, and the instructions for networking with Galileo are highlighted as exceptionally complete and efficient. A significant advantage is its broad compatibility, catering to users on Windows, Linux, and MAC OSX.

However, a few areas were identified where the book could be less clear. The process of creating images from Yocto was noted as somewhat vague, primarily attributed to the inherent complexity of the operation itself. Additionally, one reviewer pointed out the omission of telnet usage for debugging, although this was considered a minor oversight given the comprehensive details provided in other sections.

In conclusion, this book stands out as a highly valuable and detailed guide for a specific segment of embedded systems developers. It is particularly well-suited for readers with an Arduino background seeking to advance their expertise with Intel Quark SOCs and explore advanced functionalities such as machine vision with OpenCV. Its extensive coverage and support across multiple operating systems make it a strong recommendation for those looking to master the Galileo board and its capabilities.
