Moving to rural Alaska, sixth grader Lucy eagerly anticipates a fresh start, leaving behind past bullies. Her new school operates remotely through the harsh winter, allowing her to connect with thirteen friendly classmates online. As spring arrives and the ice thaws, Lucy is excited to finally meet her new friends in person.

However, when Lucy follows her GPS to the school's address, she finds a burned-out, abandoned building and a small cemetery with headstones bearing the names of her online classmates. Lucy must confront whether this is an elaborate prank by her new friends or if the truth behind White Pine Secondary School is far more unsettling.
