Legends 13

Reviewers consistently praise the book for its extremely well-written, vivid, and descriptive prose. The collection is described as intriguing, entertaining, and imaginative, offering a unique perspective on fables, myths, and traditional fairy tales. Readers found the stories to be timeless, providing lively commentary on mythology and life in general, and exploring various facets of human nature, practices, traditions, and beliefs.

However, some aspects of the collection were noted. It is characterized as an odd assortment of tales, with individual stories varying in strength. The narratives possess a strange quality, reminiscent of old-fashioned fairy tales that do not always conclude with happy or even clearly sad endings. A point of confusion for several readers was the reappearance of character and place names across different tales, making it unclear whether these stories were interconnected or meant to stand alone. Additionally, a few readers felt the book did not fully deliver on the 'mythical' or 'magical' elements they had hoped for.

Despite these observations, the book is generally regarded as an entertaining and worthwhile read. It is highly recommended for those who appreciate old-fashioned stories, traditional fairy tales, and myths, particularly readers who enjoy vivid prose and a collection that delves into the complexities of human experience and belief systems. The book is ideal for an audience seeking unique and thought-provoking tales that challenge conventional narrative structures and explore enduring themes.
