Lo Que Haremos Hasta Que Nos Liberemos Organización de la Abolición y Transformación de la Justicia

The book is widely praised for its exceptional accessibility and clarity, making complex abolitionist ideas understandable for a broad audience through its collection of short essays and interviews. Reviewers consistently highlight its insightful and thought-provoking content, describing it as a powerful and politically useful work that raises compelling questions about justice and community-centered approaches. Many consider it an essential read for those interested in challenging the status quo of carceral logic, serving as a foundational text for both new and experienced abolitionists. The author, an organizer, provides practical insights into the movement, shares personal motivations, and inspires readers to imagine and fight for a more just world, fostering a sense of hope and purpose.

Despite its strengths, several reviewers found the book to be repetitive, a common criticism stemming from its format as a collection of previously published pieces that frequently re-explain core concepts. This repetition sometimes led to a slower pace of understanding and a perceived lack of depth for those already familiar with abolitionist theory, who desired more specific, in-depth discussions on practical applications and concrete "how-to" steps for an abolitionist future. A significant concern raised was the absence of proper citations, leading to difficulties in fact-checking and, in some instances, the propagation of misleading information. Furthermore, some readers expressed strong disagreement with certain analyses of interpersonal and sexual violence, perceiving them as overly dogmatic, simplistic, or as flattening power dynamics, particularly regarding the accountability of abusers.

Ultimately, the book stands as a valuable and important contribution to the discourse on abolition, offering a clear and articulate guide to its principles and vision. It is highly recommended for individuals who are new to abolitionist ideas, seeking an introduction to the prison industrial complex abolition movement, or looking to rethink punishment-oriented justice systems. While those deeply immersed in the theory might find parts repetitive or less detailed on practical implementation, the book serves as an inspiring call to action, encouraging readers to engage their imaginations and contribute to building alternatives to current carceral structures. It is a resource that prompts critical thought and ongoing discussion for anyone committed to envisioning a more just society.
