Lost Pianos of Siberia

Sophy Roberts embarks on a unique quest across the vast, enigmatic landscapes of Siberia, driven by a desire to find a lost piano for a talented young Mongolian musician. This journey becomes an exploration of a region traditionally associated with exile and hardship, revealing an unexpected musical legacy that runs deep through Russian history.

From the grand instruments of 19th-century aristocrats to the humble Soviet-era uprights, each piano tells a story of fortitude, culture, and survival against a backdrop of revolutions, purges, and the extreme Siberian climate. As Roberts traces the paths of these forgotten instruments, she unearths not only their individual histories but also a profound narrative of human resilience and the enduring power of music in one of the world's most remote places.
