Theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway lives multiple lives. By day, she is an adjunct professor, hoping to finally land a tenure-track position. By night, she compensates for her low pay by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, expertly adapting her personality to be whatever her clients need. It is a system that works, until her carefully separated worlds collide. The arrogant and attractive older brother of her favorite client turns out to be Jack Smith, the cold-hearted experimental physicist who stands between Elsie and her dream job at MIT.
