Mara und Dann Roman

Thousands of years hence, a new Ice Age has gripped the northern hemisphere, encasing it in vast sheets of ice and snow. Life, tenacious and struggling, clings to the southern continent of Ifrik, a land now ravaged by relentless drought and encroaching desert. It is into this world of scarcity and peril that Mara, a child of seven, and her younger brother, Dann, are born among the Mahondi people. Their path is fraught with peril. They are captured and enslaved by the Hadron people, enduring the indignity of bondage before a miraculous escape. Yet, freedom is fleeting, and they are soon seized again in the war-torn country of Charad. Here, their paths diverge for a time, testing the unbreakable bond of their sibling love. Dann, with a quiet strength, rises to become a general in the army, while Mara finds herself conscripted as a spy, even enduring abduction for forced breeding by a rival ethnic group. Despite the separations, a profound instinct guides them back to each other, their determination to reunite unwavering.

Mara, ever the seeker, observes the human condition with a clear, often troubled, gaze.
