Mi vida en rose

This collection of essays charts a journey from a childhood in North Carolina, through odd jobs in New York, to a new life in Paris. The first half of the book revisits the author's formative years, exploring everything from speech therapy for a lisp to the dynamics of a uniquely eccentric family. With a sharp, self-deprecating wit, these stories find humor in the mundane and highlight the absurdities of everyday life, offering a candid look at the path to self-acceptance.

The second half shifts to France, detailing the bewildering and often hilarious experience of immersing oneself in a new culture and language. The challenges of communicating, navigating Parisian social norms, and enduring a merciless French teacher provide a backdrop for insightful observations on identity and belonging. Through these personal and unflinchingly honest narratives, the book reveals the transformative power of embracing life's awkward and unpredictable moments.
