Monstrous Beauty

A fierce mermaid named Syrenka falls in love with Ezra, a human naturalist, in the late 19th century. Her choice to leave her underwater world for a life on land with him unleashes horrific and deadly consequences.

Almost 140 years later, seventeen-year-old Hester is inexplicably drawn to a mysterious stranger also named Ezra, while grappling with a family curse where women die after giving birth. Hester investigates her family's strange history, seeking answers in graveyards, crypts, and the ocean's depths, but powerful forces attempt to prevent her from uncovering her connection to Syrenka and the ancient tragedy. This story intertwines two timelines, revealing a dark, complex narrative where mermaids are perilous, and love can carry a devastating price across generations.
