One Italian Summer A Novel

When Katy's mother dies, she is left reeling and untethered. Carol was not just her mom, but her best friend, her guide, and the person with all the answers. Now, faced with a future she cannot imagine, Katy makes a brave decision: she embarks alone on the mother-daughter trip of a lifetime they had planned to Positano. The magical town on the Amalfi Coast was where Carol spent a transformative summer just before she met Katy's father. As soon as Katy arrives, she feels her mother's spirit, but she is unprepared for what happens next.

Carol appears - in the flesh, healthy, sun-tanned, and thirty years old. Given an impossible chance to reconnect, Katy gets to know her mother not as the parent who raised her, but as the young woman she was before. Over the course of one Italian summer, Katy is forced to reconcile the woman she thought she knew with the person who stands before her, who does not yet have all the answers. This is an exploration of the powerful, complex bond between mother and daughter, a story of grief, self-discovery, and how the people we love are never truly gone.
