The fabric of existence hangs in the balance when the Auditors of Reality, obsessed with ultimate order, commission the construction of a perfect glass clock. Should this clock begin to tick, time itself will cease, bringing an end to all tomorrows and eradicating the unpredictable chaos of humanity.

It falls to an unlikely alliance to prevent this absolute stillness. The venerable History Monks, guardians of time's flow, send their most unassuming master, Lu-Tze, and his gifted apprentice, Lobsang Ludd, on a desperate mission. Meanwhile, Death, facing the prospect of eternal unemployment, dispatches his pragmatic granddaughter, Susan Sto Helit, into the fray. As these forces converge, a humorous and philosophical race against the impending end of everything unfolds, questioning the very nature of time, free will, and what it truly means to be human.
