Ramona Empieza el Curso

The book is widely celebrated for its authentic and charming portrayal of a spirited kindergartener, capturing the essence of a typical five-year-old's imagination and perspective. Reviewers consistently praise Beverly Cleary's unique ability to write from a child's point of view, making Ramona a timeless and relatable character for both young readers and adults recalling their own childhoods. Many found the story amusing, funny, and full of delightful moments that elicited giggles and laughter. The narrative is often described as touching and heartwarming, allowing readers to deeply identify with Ramona's joys, frustrations, and the feeling of being misunderstood. The book's enduring appeal is highlighted, with many noting how well it holds up over time, and audio versions are commended for their excellent narration.

Despite widespread affection, some reviewers express reservations regarding Ramona's behavior. Concerns are raised about her being overly rambunctious, at times appearing annoyingly self-centered, and not always accepting responsibility for her actions. Several readers specifically point out instances where Ramona's temper tantrums or "noisy fuss" seem to consistently get her way, leading to questions about whether the book inadvertently reinforces undesirable behavior in children. Additionally, some of Ramona's interactions with peers, such as persistent teasing or chasing, are noted as problematic when viewed through contemporary lenses, with some reviewers finding her actions to lack impulse control or even be immature for her age. While generally considered minor, a few cultural and gender norms present in the book are also mentioned as slightly dated.

Overall, Ramona the Pest is largely considered a beloved classic that continues to resonate across generations. Its insightful depiction of a child's inner world, combined with its humor and heart, makes it highly recommended for young readers transitioning from picture books to chapter books, typically around ages five to eight. It is also cherished by adults who enjoy revisiting childhood stories or sharing them with their own children, appreciating Cleary's genius in portraying universal childhood experiences. This book is ideal for readers who delight in stories about spirited, often misunderstood protagonists navigating the everyday challenges and discoveries of growing up, and who appreciate a narrative rich with genuine emotion and keen observations of child psychology.
