This book is widely appreciated for its practical, direct, and sensible advice on parenting, often serving as an excellent reference guide for busy parents. Many readers found it very to the point, offering clear, easy-to-understand steps and helpful bullet-point summaries for common challenges. Positives include its focus on establishing routines and order, setting boundaries, and improving communication with children. Reviewers lauded its strategies for handling issues like sleep, eating, and tantrums, emphasizing a firm but loving approach, encouraging quality time, and promoting conscious parenting without yelling or violence. It's seen as a valuable tool for building trust and fostering a positive parent-child relationship.

However, the book also drew criticism for being repetitive and containing much advice that some experienced parents considered common sense, offering little new information if they had already read specialized parenting books. A significant concern, particularly from some non-English reviews, revolved around the book's nature as a "translation and authorship" hybrid, leading to confusion about its original content and the inclusion of culturally specific advice not attributed to the original author. This raised questions about the integrity of the translation and the appropriateness of certain word choices. Some readers also found the methods strict, potentially outdated, or overly reliant on external rewards and punishments, not aligning with modern psychological parenting approaches. It is also noted that it's a reference book rather than a comprehensive manual for every stage or deep-seated behavioral problem.

In conclusion, this book is generally considered a useful and practical guide, especially for parents navigating the early years of childhood. It is best suited for first-time parents, those seeking a basic overview of parenting principles, or individuals needing a quick reference for common behavioral issues in children typically under five, though some found it applicable up to age ten. Readers who appreciate a direct, no-nonsense approach to establishing routines, discipline, and effective communication will likely find it beneficial. However, parents looking for highly nuanced psychological insights, those who prefer gentle or attachment-based parenting methods, or those in specific cultural contexts should be aware of potential localized additions in translated versions.
