The Princess Saves Herself in this One

Many readers found this poetry collection to be deeply emotional, raw, and empowering. Reviewers appreciated the author's willingness to be vulnerable and share deeply personal experiences, which resonated with themes of self-love, self-respect, and feminist ideas. For some, the poems "hit home," providing a sense of connection and making them feel and contemplate life's complexities like love, loss, grief, and healing. The book's capacity to inspire strength and an unapologetic attitude was highlighted, with several readers describing the writing as brutal, honest, and profoundly moving.

Conversely, a significant number of reviewers expressed strong dissatisfaction with the book's poetic style and perceived lack of artistic merit. Many criticized the frequent use of line breaks after nearly every word, arguing that this technique did not constitute genuine poetry and often felt like a superficial attempt to convey depth. Critics described the content as simplistic, clichéd, and reminiscent of "Tumblr platitudes" or "emo Myspace updates," lacking subtlety, nuance, or original imagery. Some found the poems to be merely fragmented sentences or diary entries rather than sophisticated literary works, with some lines even being called unoriginal or derivative of well-known quotes.

Ultimately, this collection proves to be highly divisive, with readers either loving its emotional directness or strongly disliking its unconventional form. While some found the author's raw honesty and empowering messages to be a powerful and relatable experience, others yearned for more traditional poetic structure, metaphor, and literary depth. Therefore, this book would likely appeal to younger readers or those who appreciate accessible, confessional-style poetry that prioritizes emotional impact and themes of personal growth and self-empowerment. However, readers accustomed to more ornate, complex, or classical poetry may find it falls short of their expectations for the genre.
