The Snowy Day (Reading Chest)

The world awakens hushed and transformed, blanketed in a pristine, deep snow that fell silently through the night. A young boy named Peter, in his cozy pajamas, peers out his window to see the city streets covered in a dazzling white, an untouched canvas waiting for his mark. After breakfast, donning his bright red snowsuit, he eagerly ventures outside, the first to step into the fresh, sparkling expanse.

Crunch, crunch, crunch go his feet, making the very first footprints in the smooth, deep snow. He experiments, walking with his toes pointing out, then with his toes pointing in, creating a zigzag trail of discovery. A long stick becomes his companion, perfect for knocking snow from a tree, watching it tumble down with a soft puff. He drags the stick along, making a line in the snow, a simple act filled with immense satisfaction.

Peter then discovers the joy of shaping the snow. He builds a snowman, giving it buttons for eyes and a carrot for a nose. He lies down and waves his arms and legs, leaving behind the perfect imprint of a snow angel. Imagining himself a daring explorer, he pretends to be a mountain climber, scaling the tall, snowy peaks piled high around him.

Later, he encounters bigger children engaged in a lively snowball fight. He considers joining them but wisely decides against it when a stray snowball narrowly misses him. Before heading back inside, a clever idea sparks in his mind: he packs a perfect snowball and tucks it safely into his pocket, a treasure to keep.

Once home, the warmth of his house envelops him. He takes a long, warm bath, reflecting on the day's adventures. But as he prepares for bed, he remembers his pocketed snowball. To his dismay, he finds only a small puddle where his cold, round treasure once was. The wonder of the day slowly gives way to the quiet disappointment of a melted memory.
