This is the Life

Ciaran Murphy's This is the Life offers a witty and provocative exploration of grassroots GAA, moving beyond the spotlight of inter-county stars to illuminate the experiences of the 99 percent. The book delves into the deep integration of the Gaelic Athletic Association within Irish families and communities, examining the challenges faced by rural clubs and the often-unspoken role of social class within the organization.

Drawing on Murphy's own journey as a player, supporter, and journalist, this narrative provides an intimate look at the places the GAA originates from, the paths it can forge for individuals, and the core values that make a local club worth preserving. It captures the essence of everyday GAA life, revealing the dedication and passion that underpin this vital cultural institution.
