Tiga Manula Jalan-jalan ke Selatan Jawa

Reviewers widely praise this comic book for its entertaining and hilarious portrayal of three elderly friends on an adventurous road trip. The protagonists, Waluyo, Sanip, and Liem, are celebrated for their amusing antics, blunt dialogue, and endearing personalities, which consistently elicit laughter. Beyond the humor, the book serves as an informative travelogue, guiding readers through the scenic South Java route and highlighting various cities, cultural landmarks, and historical sites. A particular highlight for many is the detailed and mouth-watering descriptions of local culinary specialties, making it a feast for both the eyes and imagination. The distinctive art style is also frequently commended for beautifully capturing the landscapes, characters, and food, adding to the authentic local charm.

While overwhelmingly positive, some reviewers noted a recurring aspect regarding the central quest: the search for Waluyo's hometown, Desa Tingal, remains largely unresolved by the end of the journey. Readers express a mild, humorous frustration that the characters either miss subtle clues or simply don't find the village despite being close. A few also mentioned that while enjoyable as a standalone, the experience is enhanced by having read the preceding book which covers their journey along the North Java route, providing fuller context to the trio's ongoing adventure.

Overall, the comic is highly regarded as a delightful and engaging read. It is recommended for those seeking a light, humorous escape filled with genuine Indonesian wit and charm. Readers who appreciate travelogues, culinary exploration, and a good laugh will find this book particularly appealing. It is suitable for all ages and especially recommended for fans of local comics, travel enthusiasts, and anyone looking for an informative yet thoroughly entertaining story that celebrates friendship and the rich tapestry of Indonesian culture.
