Vampire Academy. Deuda de espíritu

Rose Hathaway returned to the familiar, yet unsettling, halls of St. Vladimir's Academy, her heart heavy with the ghost of a love lost and a mission unfinished. Dimitri, her mentor and the man she loved, now walked among the Strigoi, a creature of pure evil, and her attempt to end his monstrous existence had failed. Despite the gnawing pain, her focus had to be on her final guardian trials, a series of daunting tests designed to prove her readiness to protect Moroi royalty, particularly her best friend, Princess Lissa Dragomir. The trials were brutal, demanding every ounce of her skill and courage, but even as she fought, Dimitri's ominous letters, a twisted blend of love and death threats, haunted her every waking moment.

The desperate hope of restoring Dimitri consumed her, a whisper of a possibility that defied all known laws of their world. It was a dangerous, almost insane idea: to find a way to turn a Strigoi back into a dhampir. This quest led her to a perilous proposition: breaking Victor Dashkov, a Moroi royal imprisoned for his dark use of spirit magic, out of a high-security facility. Victor, Lissa's estranged uncle, possessed knowledge that might be the key to understanding the rare and potent magic that could reverse a Strigoi transformation.

With the reluctant aid of Lissa, Christian, and Eddie, Rose orchestrated a daring prison break. The escape was fraught with peril, a tense dance between cunning and brute force, but they succeeded in freeing Victor and his brother, Robert. Their journey then led them to Las Vegas, a stark contrast to their hidden world, where Robert, another Spirit user, confirmed the existence of a ritual that could potentially save Dimitri. It required a stake infused with spirit magic, a power only Lissa, with her unique abilities, could wield.

Yet, this glimmer of hope came with a heavy price, straining Rose's already complicated relationships. Her boyfriend, Adrian Ivashkov, a Moroi royal who also possessed spirit magic, struggled deeply with her unwavering determination to save Dimitri. He loved her fiercely, but her obsession with her former lover wounded him, leaving him to wonder where he truly stood in her heart.

The plan to confront Dimitri was set in motion. He, ever the hunter, had lured Rose into a trap, kidnapping Lissa and Christian, knowing Rose would follow. A desperate rescue mission ensued, with Rose leading a group of guardians into the Strigoi's lair. Amidst the chaos of battle, Rose found Dimitri, her heart a maelstrom of conflicting emotions. She was ready to end him, to finally rid the world of the monster he had become, but Lissa and Christian intervened.

In a moment charged with ancient magic and raw emotion, Christian encircled Dimitri with a ring of fire, immobilizing him. Then, Lissa, wielding a spirit-infused stake, plunged it into his heart. The impossible happened: Dimitri Belikov was restored, no longer a Strigoi, but a dhampir once more. The reunion, however, was far from joyous. Traumatized by his time as a Strigoi, Dimitri was a broken man, plagued by guilt and unable to reconcile with Rose, pushing her away despite her desperate pleas.

The weight of their actions, particularly the prison break and the dangerous use of spirit magic, hung heavy over them. Upon their return, Rose and Eddie faced punishment for their recklessness. But the true calamity struck when Queen Tatiana, the Moroi ruler, was found murdered, a stake lodged in her heart. To Rose's horror, the stake was hers, and she was immediately accused of the queen's assassination, a crime punishable by death. The world she had fought so hard to protect now saw her as a killer, and as the story closed, Rose found herself arrested, staring down the barrel of an execution, while a cryptic note left by Queen Tatiana hinted at a profound secret - another Dragomir, a relative of Lissa, who could fulfill a vital quorum.
