Words of Radiance

The war on the Shattered Plains grinds on, but a more ancient and terrible conflict is stirring. The Assassin in White, a killer whose name is spoken in terrified whispers, is active again. His targets are the rulers of Roshar, and Highprince Dalinar Kholin, the man trying to unite a fractured kingdom against a looming desolation, is next on his list. Entrusted with Dalinar's protection is Kaladin, the former slave who now commands the royal guard. He must defend the very noblemen he despises while secretly struggling to master the incredible powers of a Knight Radiant awakening within him.

Elsewhere, the brilliant scholar Shallan Davar travels to the warcamps, bearing a terrible burden and a desperate mission: to uncover the secrets of the legendary Voidbringers and prevent the end of civilization. As she grapples with the traumatic secrets of her own past, her unique abilities of light and illusion grow stronger. While armies clash and assassins lurk, the Parshendi, enemies of the Alethi, consider a desperate pact with a supernatural force that could save them, or condemn the entire world. This is a story of transformation, where the paths of a soldier, a scholar, and a prince will collide, and the secrets they uncover will either forge a new order of heroes or unleash an era of darkness.
