The year is 2045, and the world has been forever altered. A catastrophic flood in 2044 ravaged the once-sprawling Dissimilar Kingdom, shrinking its four vibrant islands into just two: the austere Research Island and the verdant Bird-Beast Island. With the deluge, not only were vital figures and defense systems lost, but also the recently developed H4N13 vaccine and its potent antidote, vanished in the roaring waters.
Amidst this drastically changed landscape, the story follows Feng Qi, a unique being, half-human and half-bird. His unusual identity as a "Bird Man" is a secret, but when it is exposed, his mother, fearing for his safety, compels him to journey to the Dissimilar Kingdom to find his father. There, Feng Qi discovers a freedom he has never known, soaring through the skies like a true bird, and is even bestowed the title of prince by his father. Yet, a deep longing for his mother gnaws at his heart.
After the Research Base is painstakingly rebuilt, the King mandates that Hai Kuo remain on Research Island as an assistant, while Feng Qi and Yu Mei, among others, are settled on Bird-Beast Island. Living in close proximity with the captured humans, Feng Qi's empathy grows, solidifying his resolve to liberate them from their plight. However, this burgeoning conviction creates a rift between him, Hai Kuo, and Yu Mei. Their once-close bond frays under the weight of differing ideals, leading to avoidance and suspicion.
Hai Kuo, in particular, harbors an escalating animosity towards Feng Qi, their relationship becoming increasingly strained. The tension escalates dramatically when Feng Qi uncovers the King's sinister and terrifying machinations. With this dark revelation, Feng Qi's commitment becomes unwavering. He makes the perilous decision to align himself with the humans, secretly plotting a rebellion against the tyrannical ruler.
Yet, their clandestine plans are not entirely hidden. The King's loyal confidante, Egg Cat, becomes privy to their secrets, emerging as a lurking threat to their burgeoning alliance. The question looms: can Feng Qi and his small band of rebels, with their limited strength, evade the King's watchful eyes and successfully escape the confines of the Dissimilar Kingdom?
