D'accord avec soi et les autres guide pratique d'analyse transactionnelle

The book "I'm OK - You're OK" is widely praised for its profound impact on readers' understanding of themselves and their relationships. Many reviewers describe it as a transformative and life-changing text, offering deep insights into human behavior and the dynamics of interpersonal communication. It introduces a simple yet powerful relational model, Transactional Analysis, which helps readers identify and navigate the "Parent," "Adult," and "Child" states within themselves and others. This framework is lauded for making complex psychological concepts accessible and practical for daily application, leading to improved self-awareness, better communication, and enhanced problem-solving skills. Numerous readers express regret at not having discovered the book earlier, highlighting its enduring relevance and utility in fostering personal growth and healthier interactions.

Despite its strengths, the book receives criticism for certain aspects. A significant number of reviewers point out that the content and language are noticeably dated, reflecting the social norms and perspectives of the 1960s and 70s. This includes examples that some find to be sexist or culturally insensitive by modern standards. Critics also mention that the author tends to be disorganized, frequently veering into broad philosophical, societal, and political tangents that can detract from the core subject matter. Some feel that the book oversimplifies complex psychological theories or overreaches in its claims that Transactional Analysis can be a universal solution for various global issues. Additionally, some readers suggest that it may not be a comprehensive guide for deeply understanding Transactional Analysis, recommending foundational texts by Eric Berne for a more thorough exploration.

Overall, "I'm OK - You're OK" is considered a seminal work in the self-help psychology genre, with many readers affirming its enduring value despite its acknowledged flaws. It is particularly recommended for individuals interested in gaining a foundational understanding of human psychology and the mechanics of interpersonal dynamics. Readers seeking practical tools for self-improvement, better communication in their personal and professional lives, and a simplified introduction to the Parent-Adult-Child model will likely find this book beneficial. It appeals to those willing to look past its historical context and dated examples to appreciate its core insights, which continue to resonate with many seeking to foster more authentic and constructive relationships.
