The other two were Littlepeople, beings no larger than mice but possessing complex brains and emotions, named Hem and Haw. For them, Cheese was far more than mere sustenance; it was the very essence of happiness, security, and success. The Maze, with its labyrinthine corridors and hidden chambers, was their world, the place where they hoped to find what they desired most.

Every morning, the four companions would don their running gear and set out, each following their own method to discover the precious Cheese. Sniff, with his keen nose, would sniff out the slightest hint of change, while Scurry would immediately scurry into action. Hem and Haw, with their more sophisticated minds, used their intellect to plan their routes, though sometimes their powerful beliefs and emotions would cloud their judgment. One glorious day, after much searching, they all discovered a magnificent trove of Cheese at Cheese Station C. It was an abundant supply, more than they had ever dreamed of, and it filled them with immense joy.

Life at Cheese Station C became a predictable routine. Sniff and Scurry, ever vigilant, continued to wake early, inspect the dwindling supply, and keep their running shoes tied around their necks, ready for any shift. But Hem and Haw, basking in the comfort of their newfound prosperity, grew complacent. They built a cozy home near the station, establishing elaborate routines around their cheese supply, believing it would last forever. They took off their running shoes, feeling entitled to the Cheese, and their minds grew soft, their sense of awareness dulled by the seeming permanence of their good fortune.

Then, one morning, the unthinkable happened: Cheese Station C was empty. The Cheese was gone. Sniff and Scurry, having anticipated this possibility, were not surprised. Without a moment's hesitation, they quickly put on their running shoes and darted off into the Maze, their instincts driving them to seek new sources. Hem and Haw, however, were devastated. They stood bewildered and angry, shouting, "Who moved my Cheese?" They felt betrayed, convinced that the Cheese belonged to them and that someone had unfairly taken it away. They refused to accept the new reality, clinging to the hope that the old Cheese would magically reappear.

Days turned into weeks, and Hem and Haw remained at the empty station, growing hungrier and weaker. Hem, rigid in his conviction, refused to move, blaming the situation and lamenting the injustice. Haw, though equally fearful, began to ponder the wisdom of their inaction. He looked at his friend, gaunt and despairing, and a glimmer of courage sparked within him. He asked himself, "What would I do if I weren't afraid?" Slowly, reluctantly, he began to sketch out a new path in his mind, imagining the taste of new Cheese, even if he didn't know where it might be.

With a deep breath, Haw finally ventured back into the Maze, leaving Hem behind. The journey was daunting, filled with fear and uncertainty, but as he moved, he found snippets of old Cheese, just enough to sustain him. He realized that his fear had been worse than the reality of the journey. Along the Maze walls, he began to write messages, simple truths he discovered along the way: "If you do not change, you can become extinct." and "The quicker you let go of old Cheese, the sooner you find new Cheese." These words were for himself, to reinforce his resolve, and perhaps, for Hem, should he ever decide to follow.

Haw continued his exploration, learning to adapt with each turn, laughing at his past fears, and enjoying the adventure of the unknown. He moved beyond simply looking for the *same* kind of Cheese, opening his mind to new possibilities. Eventually, far deeper in the Maze, he discovered Cheese Station N, brimming with an even greater variety of delicious new Cheeses. Sniff and Scurry were already there, thriving. Haw celebrated his success, reflecting on how much better life was when he embraced change. He vowed to inspect Cheese Station N daily and to continue exploring the Maze, knowing that change was constant and that he must always be ready to move with the Cheese.
